Dimensions of Occasional Tables. It is open to debate which is the more important: the look and feel of your occasional tables or their dimensions. Perhaps dimensions are irrelevant if you find a superb coffee table that matches your furniture perfectly. Maybe that superb-looking end table is ideal for your sofa or armchairs. Forget their sizes - they look great so let`s buy them! Is that so? First you must consider the purpose of these occasional tables, for that is what they are generally known as - occasional tables - tables that will be used on occasion, or at least that is one explanation for their name. What if the end table is way below the height of the arm of your armchair? Would you feel comfortable stretching down to get a cup or glass?
Smaller end tables aren`t just for the living room. If you have two end tables, you can repurpose the second one in another room. For example, you can use one as a nightstand in a second bedroom or even the master. You can also convert one into an accent table and place it in a corner of the bedroom or any room in the home. Add some photos or a floral arrangement and you`ll have a nice addition without having to break up the set permanently.
If you`ve ever gone furniture shopping and come home more confused than ever before, don`t feel like you`re alone. Without even going into styles of furniture, figuring out the difference between one table and another can be a nightmare. Take lowly end tables, for instance. In the old days, end tables came in pairs, usually sold in a set with a matching coffee table. Easy enough. Put one end table on each end of the sofa, plug in a lamp on each and center the coffee table in front. 1950s basic décor.
Tray tables: If you`re not planning to add a lamp to the end tables in your living room, you can opt for tray tables instead. These have easy to remove trays that you can use for serving food or beverages. The rest of the time, tray tables look just like end tables. The good news is that you can use whatever you like in your rooms these days. There`s no need to be locked in the 1950s with the traditional end tables and coffee table set. Use your imagination and find ones that look wonderful in your home, no matter what others call them.
